Lakanuki Freaky Tiki Hawaiian Party

Last Wednesday it was time for another annual Hawaii Party. Last year we had to skip it as there was no good location for it to be held. This year Jen, Jo, and Katie were kind enough to open their house, and turn up the heat to tropical temperatures!

Many people were present, there was dancing, cheering, and yes, some drinking involved. It all added up as a great party, good to take the mind away from work and Blue River! Bring on the bikinis, beach shorts, and sun glasses!
Also noticed around: men in backwards female bathing suits, tattoo artists / wannabe hells angels (sorry Scotty, not working), women with tanning lotion on, and other Blue River oddities were also around, to make it all very Blue River style!!!
Only 362 more days to go... :)

Powder Paradise

Yet another day in Powder Paradise with Crosby! It is my fourth time out this year, and already the second time out in Crosby's group. I am so lucky...! I loved it, but especially the 2 runs following Crosby. Maybe again tomorrow, but I don't want to get too excited yet...

Here is a photo from 2 seasons ago!

Beautiful days

Wow, the weather is so nice and I have a dog to hang out with for a day; life couldn't be better! Well, actually, it would be better if Crosby wasn't working in Albreda 45km north of here, but okay.

Went for a great walk all over town and then for a run with Stevie (pronounce Shtevie), which was just great. My little cold could just be ignored! The sun is shining, the sunset last night was spectacular, and I can only imagine the fun people are having in the mountains today!

Well, gotta go now, have a shower, a smoothie, maybe a nap, and then back to work...

Rain in Blue River :(

What to do with myself; it is raining in Blue River!!! Icy roads stop me from running, and wet stuff coming from the air and spraying up from the road when biking keeps me from going anywhere. We've had a few down days here, too, so Crosby has been introducing his guests to Carcassonne, a really fun board game. Oh, and they invited us for wine, cheese, and deli meats in their chalet last night!

The rain ticking away is making me sleepy, I think I should have a nap... :)

January life...

I am sitting here, watching Crosby cook spaghetti, contemplating which wonderful photos to put up this time. Derek shoots great shots of me snowboarding, I am so lucky! So here are some of the photos. If you click on them they will enlarge quite nicely. I was only going to put up 1 or 2, but I couldn't pick very well...
Crosby has this week 'off' - no guiding - so instead he gets to 'brush'. In other words, skiing around with a major chainsaw (heavy), then walk around with it in hip-deep snow, to cut trees at the base which requires digging in the snow. All to make sure the helicopter can land properly, and the people can ski around the heli-landing without getting knocked off their skis. Sounds just like my typical week off ;) hahahah! Then to get a little excercise he goes and plays hockey for 3 hours on Tuesday night. (I went puzzling inside with some girls, it was way too cold outside and the guys play fast and rough.) You go, man!

Other than working we are making moutaineering plans for the summer, since Scott Colby is skiing here this week. Always a good reason to bring out the good tequila (Don Julio, the kind of T that requires sipping), bags of potato chips, and fun stories about climbing, skiing, fast cars, and other stuff.
Work is getting more stressful with our busiest week of the season coming up. It hasn't been as busy as next week in 5 years, with well over 100 people in Blue River... It requires a lot of preparation, so the days are all about phone calls, e-mailing, and the occasional cut, copy, and pasting (with really scissors and glue hihihi)!

Well, the pasta is almost ready and Crosby is running around with a bottle of wine in his hand (I am so lucky!) so I better stop writing.

Wishing you all well! For more photos, look at http://www.flickr.com/photos/29217975@N06/
